The last day we will live a unique moment, access Machu Picchu through the Puerta del Sol, where we will enjoy the magical sunrise over the sacred citadel of the Incas.
Day 1 Cuzco - Wayllabamba
On the way to Piskacuchu
We will pick you up by bus at your accommodation at 4:00 am and begin the tour that will take us to Piskacuchu, also known as "km 82", at an altitude of 2,700 meters. From that point we will start our route along the Inca Trail.
The Upper Urubamba
We will continue walking along the Urubamba River along the flat terrain until we reach Miskay. There we will ascend to a viewpoint in the highest part of the mountain to see the impressive Inca city of Llactapata.
Walking along Rios
We will continue the walk through the valley created by the Kusichaca River, a five-hour stretch where we will enjoy the views, flora and native fauna, until we finally reach the camp at Wayllabamba (3,000m high).
Day 2 Wayllabamba - Picaymayo
Walking in the Mountains
We have to get up early, have breakfast and continue to face the toughest section of the route, a steep climb where the landscape changes from sierra to puno (very dry landscape with little vegetation). We will pass through Abra Warmihuañusca (Passage of the Dead Woman - 4,200m high), in this area you can see llamas and domesticated alpacas.
The fauna of Pacaymayo
We will cross a cloud forest where many types of typical Andean birds live. Finally we will go down to the Pacaymayo valley (3,600m high) where we will camp.
Day 3 Picaymayo - Wiñaywayna
Mountain Ruins
From Pacaymayo we will go up to the second step of Abra Runkurakay, which is also an archaeological complex at 3,970 meters above sea level.
City of Clouds
We will go down to Yanacocha and enter the cloud forest to reach the beautiful archaeological complex of Sayacmarca (3,624m). We will continue the route through an Inca tunnel until we reach the archaeological complex Phuyupatamarca, which means “city above the clouds”, since it is at the highest point of the mountain.
Inca Agriculture
We will continue the walk along the long descending stone steps until we reach Wiñaywayna, where there is an impressive Inca complex where they were engaged in agriculture, where we will camp for the night.
Day 4 Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Cuzco
The Lost City
We will have to get up early to walk 1hr along a cobbled route built by the Incas that connects directly with Machu Picchu. We will access the site through the Puerta del Sol, known as Inti Punku, and we will live one of the most magical moments of the tour: observe the sunrise over The sacred citadel of the Incas.
Inca Sanctuary
Then we will do a 2hrs tour with an expert guide who will explain all the details of this amazing place. Finally we will have free time to enjoy on our own and we can visit places like the Temple of the Moon or the impressive Inca Bridge.
